| American and European art top the list of exciting new offerings on Day One. Works by Alexander Pope, Henriette G. Knip, Alexandre Lacovleff, and Aldro Hibbard and a group of ten American Indian pictograph drawings are included in the 80 lots of exceptional artwork. An 18th c. English bookcase top secretary desk and a Queen Anne period chest on chest highlight the 70 lots of fine formal and antique country furniture, which include 20 lots of Shaker, and 11 lots of Chinese furniture featuring an impressive and ornately carved Opium bed. There will be a nice grouping of 19th c. clocks, include two banjo clocks by Aaron Willard, a grouping of very important 18th c. silver, including an American coin silver two handled bowl, a 1736 sterling Tea Caddy, and a 1740 12 ½” Danish Stuffing spoon and a very rare violin by Georg Adam Krausch (Vienna, 1802-1827). 35 fine carpets including Bahkshaish, Aubusson, Kerman, Mahal, Heriz and Tabriz will be offered. A parian bust of George Washington, a monumental bronze portrait bust of Michelangelo by Paul Wayland Bartlett, and a bronze sculpture by Franklin Simmons highlight the selection of three-dimensional works. We will offer a hand picked selection of very important ephemera, including a 17th c. engraved map, an extremely rare WWII military manuscript, the correspondence from a Civil War Officer and a ‘yard long’ photo of the famous 101 Ranch Wild West Show.
